INTHIRA ANGKHAMAN

Inthira Angkhaman was born in the rural area of Chiangrai in the northernmost part of Thailand. With no formal education, she taught herself to read and write while living with relatives and working odd jobs. At the same time, she was growing her passion for paintings. She started painting seriously in her late 20s, working with an art mentor and developing her personal style and tehcniques.

Inthira is fascinated by the elephant, the national animal of Thailand: symbols of strength, wisdom and royalty, which lived alongside the Thai people for generations. Inthira’s admiration for the elephant’s form, facial features and immense size inspired her to use the elephant as her own symbol as she created artworks in her contemporary impressionist style.

"Through bold strokes and swift, spontaneous brush movements, I express a sense of immediacy and vitality using acrylic techniques. This approach reflects the artist’s restless spirit—constantly learning and exploring different artistic processes. The beauty of texture and color blends harmoniously with the powerful form of the elephant, resulting in artworks that are dynamic, expressive, and far from ordinary or monotonous.”

Now one of the most highly respected artists in Asia for elephant-focused artworks, Inthira draws the attention from collectors around the world.
